    Advanced Patch Management Workshop

    Learn how to maintain, tune, and troubleshoot Altiris® Patch Management Solution™ software in the Advanced Patch Management Workshop course. This course focuses on Patch Management Solution components and process flow. Other key topics include PMImport, the inventory Web service, the inventory rule cache file, Patch Management database tables, and SQL queries. Advanced techniques for troubleshooting Patch Management Solution are the main focus of the workshop hands-on sessions. Note: Because this is an advanced course, you must have prior experience with Patch Management Solution.

    Course Objectives

    • Understand Patch Management 6.2 processes and operations
    • Configure Patch Management
    • Create packages, tasks, and reports
    • Identify when and how to use the inventory rule cache file
    • Apply data classes and inventory rules
    • Become familiar with Patch Management database tables and write database queries
    • Perform advance tuning for Patch Management operations 
    • Use Patch Management Solution troubleshooting methodologies and tools
    • Solve advanced troubleshooting scenarios

    PrerequiSites

    • Have a strong understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Windows
    • Familiarity with networking concepts, including LANs, network adapter cards, drivers, and network operating systems
    • Familiarity with computer hardware components such as hubs, switches, and routers
    • (Optional, but recommended) Familiarity using VMware
    • (Optional) Have attended the Notification System Foundation (NSF-A600) instructor-led training course
    • (Optional) Have attended the Notification System Foundation (NSF-E600) online training course

    Audience

    • Anyone with three months or more of experience maintaining and managing Patch Management Solution
